Resurrection (ethnic mix)
After releasing the original version of Resurrection and the remix, and the songs not matching with the religiousness of the title at all, I thought about doing a new version, something a little bit more new-ageish.
So I ended up doing this odd and long song featuring some nature samples. It was long before freesound existed and the quality of those samples was quite bad, so I had to hide those facts the best I could. In a way, the song tries to picture the repeating cycle of death and life by using the night and morning concepts. Though I’m not quite sure if I managed to do that…
Also probably one of the other main features is that it contains sitar samples, which is an instrument I have always been fascinated with. The Impulse Tracker panning gives it a bit of mechanical feeling, but hey, you couldn’t ask for more in the year 2001.
