Up the hill

An ultrahappy song featuring some guitar lines and kind of crazy percussion. Some people say it’s also got my Trademarked kind of chiptuneish melodies. Judge by yourself I guess :D

stereopowergalactic

Fast compo tune for the new compo at escena.org. Spent probably something like 5-6 hours with this song. Sound is not very good but I’ll probably do a new version with better sound and some fixes here and there. I liked the spontaneity in this one, so that’s why I chose to release it “as is” (and the compo deadline was there so …).

Title was provided by my sister :)

Está perdiendo sangre

This is a quite creepy song that I composed after a somehow scary experience. The meaning of the title is she is losing blood. (No, my experience wasn’t about losing blood myself but the title just came to my mind).

The lyrics are pretty scary as well:

Está perdiendo sangre

Te está mirando

Está perdiendo sangre

Te está mirando

¿En qué piensas?

Ella no piensa

Está perdiendo sangre

Te está mirando

…

The song was tracked with Impulse Tracker and then I added some VSTi effects with modplug tracker (mainly the vocoded voices), but I think I have lost the source impulse tracker file so I can’t confirm which plug-ins were used and for what. If I find it I will put it here.

This is the rendered version that I released at ifparty04 high quality music compo. It didn’t win but some people liked its eeriness (surprisingly!)

Chromon

I got inspired to do this ambient tune when making the samples for Chromon , the new game by mrdoob and roman cortés

The sounds which are used during the game were created with Aldrin – and while I could have created the whole song with Aldrin as well, there’s the problem that it’s not widely available for other systems such as Mac, and I personally prefer to have my songs in a portable format. So the song itself was made with Renoise, using an extra sample for giving some “ambience” and a couple of effects (delay, reverb, the usual!).

Regarding the song, the interesting part melodically speaking is that I only used the very same notes that the game uses: A-3, A-4, D-4 and G-4, which makes it a little hard for me since I love to add lots of melodies and chords and all that to songs. But I digress; it was challenging to limit myself to a couple of notes, although at the end the result is not very varied, but it’s pretty much what stays in your brain after you have been playing the game for a while.

Finally, it wasn’t included in the game mainly because I made the song after they finished the game, and also because it would increase the download size of the game a lot!

Tempo: 120, speed: 6

Download song (3.4M)
