Music: gear

Hardware

I'm pretty standard in what it refers to hardware. I basically use a Mac mini, connected to a big Apple Cinema Display which makes tracking a crazy delight, and an Edirol PCR-M50 as midi controller.

If I'm going outdoors I bring with me my loyal PowerBook G4. It's nice and silent and has retroilluminated keyboard which comes in very handy if you're in a dark place.

Software

I'm also not very surprising regarding software. I have been using trackers for a lot of time (mostly Impulse Tracker) but I was beginning to get disappointed with the high differences in sound quality between traditional trackers and newer programs such as Reason or Live. So I'm trying to get to know Renoise better, with the aim of doing tracked music again but with nowadays quality sound.

For getting the sounds, I like to play with Reason's machines and create new modular-like boxes. I try to avoid presets since you end up sounding like everybody else, but I must confess that sometimes I fell for the presets. Some of them are sooooooo coool!

I am also experimenting a little bit with sound generation so maybe in the future I can use some sort of software built by me for generating sounds, but right now it's just an speculative prospect :-)
